A photograph is more than just picture; it represents how th e photographer feels about the subject being photographed. In a sense, it is a window to our soul; it shares a little about us with the rest of the world.

I became captivated by photography in my childhood.  As a young adult in the mid 1970s I actively pursued it as a serious hobby, and by the mid 1980s I began my professional journey as a photographer, an artist and an instructor.  After years of photographic studies and attending/assisting in workshops and classes, I started my career of teaching photography while continuing my endeavors as a professional photographer.  My private practice as a photographer encompasses portraiture, weddings, product presentation and event representation.  I enjoy all types of photography and subject matter including close up, abstract, human interest, candid and posed portraiture, scenic, still life, floral and wildlife.

Each of my fine art photographs and greeting cards is a hand-crafted, custom-designed original photograph. Fine art photographs last longer (archival) and have more vibrant, saturated colors, sharper contrast, finer detail and richer tones then standard photographs.

I am involved with every aspect of the process from shooting the images (I shoot all of my images) through the initial stages of processing to the final stages of printing/finishing.  My photographs and greeting cards are produced in either the giclee style (ink jet) for digital images with archival inks printed on professional quality archival paper or in the color/silver halide photographic style (chemical baths) for film images with archival  chemicals printed on professional quality archival paper.  I either process and print the images myself or use local professional photographic resources that use state-of-the-art equipment.

I use film in small format 35mm and medium format 6x4.5mm or 6x6mm. All of the digital is 35mm format. The cameras I use are primarily Nikon D200, Nikon F5 and Mamiya m645 1000s. The color films I use are primarily Fujichrome (Velvia, Provia) and Kodak Ektachrome.  The black and white films I use are primarily Ilford (FP4Plus, HP5Plus) and Kodak (T-Max, Plus X, Tri X). For the most part I use natural, available light and occasionally I use simple studio lighting.
